“Science is much more than smart people doing experiments on a bench or a computer. To advance, science needs committed individuals that invest their effort and time to gather the community together and delineate specific actions to foster scientific advance and collaboration under the light of ethics and moral values to protect all its members' integrity. My goal is to accompany the development of the bioinformatics and computational biology community and assure all young members from all over the world have equal opportunities to achieve their scientific potential. About:
I am an Argentinian Scientist specialized in bioinformatics and computational biology.
I have a Bioinformatics BSc/MSc degree (5 years) from Entre Rios University (Argentina) (http://www.uner.edu.ar/) and obtained my Ph.D. from Buenos Aires University (Argentina) working at the Protein Physiology Laboratory as a CONICET graduate fellow. After being an EMBO Postdoctoral Fellow at the Max Planck Institute for Biophysical Chemistry with Dr. Johannes Soeding and at EMBL/DKFZ under the supervision of Prof. Oliver Stegle I am now a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center under the supervision of Prof. Alfonso Valencia. My research interests include Protein Folding, Local Frustration, Repeat Proteins, Embryonic Stem Cells, Transcriptional regulation, Cancer multi-omics and Bioinformatics in general.
Along with my career development, I was always involved in teaching activities, being part of university subjects and different types of courses as well. I have been involved in courses like "Introduction to programming", "Algorithms and Data Structures" and "Biomolecular Structures". Additionally, I have been strongly involved in scientific communities in the fields of bioinformatics and computational biology both at the Argentinian and the international level, which led me to develop my soft skills and consequently a strong leadership profile. I have been leading and being part of several organization committees for several symposia and conferences in Argentina and other countries, mostly as a part of the ISCB Student Council (http://www.iscbsc.org/).
