RSG Netherlands

Regional Student Group Netherlands

The RSG Netherlands welcomes YOU to the Bioinformatics PhD student group in the Netherlands.

What do we do for you?

We are creating a scientific and social network for PhD students. This is being achieved, for example, by initiating a series of informal lectures by renowned Dutch scientists (BioCafé) usually in a café/bar. This has been a resounding success; not only because of the interesting talks, but also because it provided a great opportunity to informally talk to fellow PhD students.

Moreover, RSG Netherlands organises workshops on topics such as speed-reading and presentation skills and creative thinking. Recently we also organized a highly inspiring scientific speed-dating event.

Additionally, the board of the RSG is also invited by Netherlands Bioinformatics Center (NBIC) to act as a voice for PhD students in educational affairs.

Why get involved?

Getting involved in the RSG is an excellent platform to exchange ideas and discuss your research topic with other PhD students both on a national and an international level. Creating and maintaining a global network is challenging, and requires opportunities for PhD students to meet each other. The RSG Netherlands has been very successful so far in facilitating this!
Do you want to know more? Do you have ideas? Let us know, become part of our network by sending an e-mail with your contact details to rsg-netherlands@iscbsc.org.

Next BioCafé: 28th of June, 17:30 (snacks included)

Dear young researcher,

On Tuesday the 28th of June we are organizing another BioCafe with a new and exciting area of research in bioinformatics.

The speaker of the BioCafe will be Dr. Jeantine E. Lunshof, a philosopher and bioethicist in the field of human genetics and genomics, and systems biology. She has been an ethics consultant of genetics department of Harvard medical school since 2006.

The presentation will be given in a café in Utrecht (location t.b.a.), where there will be the opportunity to connect with your fellow young researchers within the field of Bioinformatics.

Registration for this event is required by sending an email to rsg-netherlands-at-iscbsc.org with your name, institute and whether you want to come and have dinner (at your own costs) with us after the BioCafé.

Hope to CU there!
